Does sugar have an affect on your heart rate?

My resting heart rate is fairly high at the best of times but the other day it was racing uncomfortably, even though I had been sitting for around an hour. My watch was saying 105bpm which is obviously too high whilst resting.

I realised I had consumed quite a bit of sugar… could that have been the cause?
Has cutting out or lowering sugar ever helped in bringing down a resting heart rate?

I don’t know the answer but this happens to me too

Yes for me too.
I don’t have a sweet tooth in general, but if I eat a lot of sugar in a short span I’ll feel it in my heart rate. And actually I’m am 49 now and hot flushes have started , I think I’m noticing an increase in hot flushes after I eat sugar so am cutting it out almost al together to see if it improves.

I think so... isn't that part of what's known as a sugar rush?

Smoothies make my heart race. So I don't have them. It may be natural sugar but it's a high dose of it.
