Where to live near Birmingham

👋

We're planning on moving away from Birmingham in next few years so I am starting to research areas around Birmingham/Solihull, we both work in the area so would like to stay no more than an hours drive away.

I would really like to live somewhere semi rural/village/small town with good schools and just generally a nice sense of community.

Does anyone live/know of anywhere you would recommend for us to have a look at?

TIA 😊

Depending on your budget, Henley in Arden and Alvechurch are lovely, but quite small and property prices are high. I don't know what the schools are like. Henley used to have a Warwickshire college campus - I don't know if they still do.

Redditch property always used to be affordable (not sure what it's like now) however it is a big town, but has lots of amenities and things to do. Depending on where you go in Redditch there are some excellent schools and you have a Heart of Worcestershire College campus as well. Trains to Birmingham.

Bromsgrove has a very community feel and a lovely high street. There are some very good state schools and a private school there too. Trains to Birmingham. Lots of good amenities, playgrounds, leisure centre with swimming pool, golf club, various sports clubs. Has a Heart of Worcestershire college campus there too.

Droitwich might be a touch to far out for you, but again it's a lovely town, lots of community stuff going on. Leisure centre, lido, lovely parks and playgrounds, sports clubs. Just off the M5. Trains and buses to Birmingham and Worcester. Excellent primary state schools in the town and surrounding villages. Private school in the town and several in the surrounding areas.
