Ebay seller charge 3xP+P but sending all 3 together!

Advice please.

I bought 3 items from the same seller on Ebay. I asked if they would combine postage they said no.

All items have been sent and posted together.

Can someone advise how I go about getting a refund on the over charge. Postage has cost them £4.85 and me £10+

If all had arrived separately it wouldn't have bothered me as that's what I paid for.

Thanks.

I think they can do this?.They've been transparent about it.

Surely you raise dispute with eBay

Raise a complaint with eBay. Cheeky buggers.

Ask them for a refund for 2 lots of postage before raising a dispute.
They can create a refund easily enough if they agree.

And when you send the message you could phrase it along the lines of:
before I can leave feedback, please confirm when you would complete the refund 2 of the 3 postage charges (total £x) as my 3 items arrived in 1 delivery but I have been charged for 3 deliveries'
Go straight to the point OP.

Thank you this is helpful 😊
And much better worded than I was thinking 😂

Just why? The cost, which you agreed to, is the same to you. You're just being petty.

@Bjorkdidit I think reasonable postage charges is one of the measurements during feedback. Or at least it used to be.
The fact is such behaviour erodes trust in ebay sellers and a credible seller could add the option for combined postage at the ordering stage through settings.
If you pay for postage you expect that money to be spent on postage. As advertised.

Hardlyworking · 01/04/2025 11:32

When I've had similar refusals, I've staggered my purchases over a matter of days to force them to send them individually. But I'm a petty fucker 😂

TheOliveFinch · 01/04/2025 12:30

They are being very cheeky and increasing their profit at your expense I would definitely ask for a refund of the excess you paid

FartSock5000 · 01/04/2025 13:10

@itsmeits Sellers are not permitted to over inflate shipping costs. Raise a dispute via ebay for being overcharged on postage.

You can message seller first to ask for the refund but if you don't get as response within 48hrs go straight to dispute.

I had this with a seller charging me more than £7 to send a large letter than cost them about £2. I raised a dispute with ebay and got a refund pretty pronto. Ebay are very strict about postage charges as in the dim and distant past when sellers only paid commission on the sale price and not the postage many used to undercharge for the item and overcharge for the postage. They changed the rules but remain pretty strict about it.
