Still no word on a job after 6 weeks

Hi all

Just wondered about others’ experiences with applications. I applied for a job mid February and the advert closed as planned around that time. I still haven’t heard anything and when I go onto the portal it still is sitting as ‘application submitted’.
This is for a job in London, not sure if that makes a difference. They hadn’t specified when the interview would be on the advert.
I’ve pretty much given up on it now but just wondered if this timeline is quite normal nowadays? I have previously been in the NHS when it was all a reasonable quick turnaround.

Absolutely move on and assume you didn’t get it. I reckon about 60% of jobs I’ve applied for haven't even given me a ‘thanks but no thanks’ - especially jobs in London unless it’s a really niche role (and often still then) each vacancy has 100s of apps and recruiters don’t bother with rejections as there’s such a massive talent pool.

I found a lot of the more official jobs spent months and months on the application process- some were four or five months (before they told me I wasn’t selected). Had well given up

I applied for a job with tfl on the 12th November and its still sat at submitted.
