Out of hours appointment - DS improved

I got an out of hours gp appointment for my DS 11 months this evening. He’s got a bad cough which sounds like croup. He has been really struggling for hours with coughing, wheezing, not falling asleep so I took the appointment offered which is at 11pm but it’s 45 minutes away!

However I’ve now got him down to sleep. I really don’t want to wake him up soon. Would you or would you cancel the appointment? I don’t actually know how to do that anyway, so it would probably mean not turning up to it.

If you think he’s got croup you should take him. If he wakes up and is ill again you’ll regret it.

Definitely still go. You'd regret it if he got worse. Kids are notorious for seeming well/improved and then going downhill. They'd rather see you amd give him a once over than not.

At that age I’d take him personally. He might need steroids or antibiotics. You’ll worry less if they’ve checked him over. I do know it feels wrong to wake a sleeping baby. Hopefully the car journey will send him back off. I hope he’s on the mend soon.
