What on earth is this illness?!

A couple of weeks ago our toddler had a week of crazy high fevers but no other signs of illness. Slight cough but she's had that for a little while. Around the time of her fever I started with a dry cough that suddenly became very chesty, then developed a 39 degree fever, headaches, chills etc.

Took DD to the doctor who said it looked like an ear and throat infection and to start antibiotics. DD's fever disappeared about a day into the antibiotics but DH then started with the same symptoms as me - fever, chills, cough etc.

Thought we were all coming through it, with DD seemingly faring the best of all of us, but she finished her antibiotics on Friday and now her temperature is straight back up. DH also feeling awful again - fever that won't shift with paracetamol and cough still very bad.

I just assumed we'd caught what DD had and were all working through it but now it feels like we're back to square one. Anyone had similar? Sorry, probably a stupid question and this is pretty standard for some chest infections but we're never really like this!

Covid?

I would take her back to the doc as she may need longer course of antibiotics. And maybe they will listen to your chest when you’re there? You could all have an infection which also needs antibiotics!

Thanks, both!

@FixedPenaltySos my first thought was Covid but that doesn't seem to tally with DD improving on the antibiotics then getting worse again. I also did an old test from the cupboard and it seemed to be negative.

@Hazelmaybe Yes I was also feeling like we'd all end up at the GP one way or another! But you're right. Potentially it makes the most sense for DH to go with her - I was checked over a week ago out of caution because I'm pregnant, but my chest sounded ok at that point.

Kicking myself because we're never ill like this apart from one last year when I was also pregnant, and it unfortunately ended in quite a late MMC. Now super paranoid about being ill again as well as worrying for the others!

I've got what I've assumed is Covid. Started with a sore throat, then tight chest, sensitive to sound, completely knackered, teeth chattering, now cough and snot, still knackered. Day 6 now.
