My four year old has terribly infected chickenpox. After three visits to the doctors we final have oral antibiotics

But it was DH that took her and forgot to ask any questions. Should I clean them? Should I cover them? They are so sore and red.

I know, actually it ended up as fortuitous really but given that they were insistent on an ultrasound and then declared that there was no one to do an ultrasound this week (wtf?) it seemed crazy to be keeping her confined to a hospital room

Poor girl. My DD, now 21, had cellulitis from chicken pox when she was 1 and we ended up in hospital for a week with her on IV antibiotics. I hope your daughter feels better soon.

How is she doing? Is her skin improving?

I swear by salt water. We went on holiday when dd1 had chicken pox, own caravan on tiny site so she wasn’t in contact with anyone. She desperately wanted to go in the sea and DH took her for a quick 10 minute dip. Within half an hour I could see the spots shrivelling up, a few had been weeping grossly but by bed time they’d all dried and shrunk. DD2 caught it of course so had salt baths at home, worked almost as well.
Hope your little girl is well again soon.

I wish the vax was on the routine programme like other countries. So many don’t people don’t know it’s available

Oh OP you’ve been through it with your DD! My DD (age 4) had chickenpox in Feb and ended up with secondary pneumonia. We narrowly avoided hospital! It really isn’t mild in all cases.

It isn't at all!

And of course my six year old now has it.

Well we are day three of the ABs at home and there is one that still hasn't scabbed over. What a total headache.

I’m sorry you’ve had a difficult time of it. How is she today?
