No phone signal

I hardly ever use my phone but when I do there is inevitably no signal anywhere. There are no payphones around these days so I really struggle. Going to hospital next week and dreading not being able to contact someone to come and pick me up because there is no signal anywhere.

Is it a problem with the phone or is it me? I'm not with an unusual provider. I think I'm with 3 but I can't remember as I use it so rarely.

Do you live in a rural area?i don't have a mobile signal at home but I know that's pretty rare nowadays.

Regardless at the nearest town in the hospital I get a signal.

I'd suggest getting a more modern Phone.

Thankyou. We are fairly rural but I struggle to get a signal in the middle of Bristol as well.

When was the last time you got a new phone? Or updated the software on your current one?

DelilahBucket · 30/03/2025 00:04

If you're not using the phone, is it still connected to a network? Often you have to use them. With Three, if you haven't used a chargeable service for six months they deactivate your SIM on a pay as you go service.

Had the phone about 7/8 months I think. I use it about a couple of times a week. I can get a signal at home but only in the kitchen.

You can check all the postcodes of places you tend to go.

RogueFemale · 30/03/2025 00:13

In my experience, Vodafone and O2 have better coverage.

slipperypenguin · 30/03/2025 00:13

3 were shite for us and had exact same issue.

RogueFemale · 30/03/2025 00:13

I'm on a £10 a month so-called 'pay-as-you-go' with O2. No actual contract, can change the provider anytime I want.

On my phone it shows the provider (O2) in the top left hand corner of the screen.

Also, ask friends and neighbours which provider they're with and whether they have good coverage.
