Passport application - 1 document received, the other still not received a week later

I sent off documents for my children’s passports together (as stated on the website). My daughter’s passport was marked as received the day it arrived. This was a week ago, my son’s birth certificate has had no such acknowledgment.

I’m worried they’ve lost it. Has anyone ever had similar and it go on to be OK?

I’ve contacted them and they say they will look into it with no indication of time frame.

They've possibly sent the applications to different places for processing. I did similar with ours a few years ago for renewing. Mine got done in Glasgow, the other in Liverpool. The timescales for getting the passports and also our docs back were very different! Could be something like this causing the delay?

This is quite normal. Ours went to different centres and varied by up to two weeks on processing. Are you in a time crunch? If not I'd relax for a while at least before worrying!
