Apparently at out tip now if you e got something like a sofa with a metal recliner mechanism you have to take it apart. Is that the same at yours?

We’ve been going back and forwards to the tip loads recently, though we’ve not had to take a sofa. I’ve taken everything apart, I assumed it was like the recycle bin, you want to fit as much in each cart as possible!

We broke ours up to fit it in the car (tried to give it to charity but it isn't easy to do). Like the PP said you need to separate items for the correct recycling bin.

Yes, everything has to go in the correct skip.

Our tip has only just started doing this - wasn't sure if it was something they'd just dreamt up! What are you supposed to do if you can't break it up?

Our tip encourages you to break things up into recyclable parts as much as possible. Otherwise it has to go in landfill. They have a whole separate section for large furniture though so not sure if they do some dismantling there.
