Finding out who this man is from his online photograph

Hi MN
Really hoping someone can help with this.
A close friend of mine has been having an online friendship / flirtation with a man for around three years. They speak to each other through a forum but message privately and speak on the phone regularly.

My friend has lots of photographs of this man throughout the years he has sent her, we do not know if the man she is speaking to is the man in the photographs or not and would like to find out who he is.
How can we search for his image online to check who he is?
Have tried Google Image Search but it doesn't bring anything up, has anyone used this successfully and can they give me any tips please? It will make a big difference to my friend if we can find out more about the man in the photographs.
Tia xx

Tell your friend to tell him it's over see what the bloke's reaction is. It's usually then that they start to panic and go in for the kill (asking for money I mean).

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 24/03/2025 16:35

Why is your friend now suspicious? What has happened?

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 24/03/2025 16:36

He's probably lifted photos from someone's Facebook account.

Chuchoter · 24/03/2025 16:42

If no video chat you ask him to take a photo holding up a newspaper which shows today's date.

I know someone who got into a two year 'relationship' with a guy online. A really intense, strange relationship- talking daily on the phone, MSN (yes, that long ago!). Photos exchanged etc, they would make plans to meet that would always end up getting cancelled (by him). Eventually she just realised that it was never going to happen so disconnected.

We were very relieved, it really was a strange intense bonding that they had. He would want her attention at any given time, text her constantly on nights out etc. No money involved, in fact if anything she did okay out of it as he would send her gifts etc (NEVER requested by her). We just came to the conclusion that he was an oddball who, for whatever reason, just wanted on 'online' life. I'm not sure she even knew his real name.

This was about 20 years ago now, not sure if he's still getting away with it these days!

I think the same. The man wants an online life / wants to avoid reality somehow. Has he had an accident / is disabled so is living his life online.

Not if you've ever watched Catfish 😬

Nev and Max would solve it.

Does she think they're in a relationship? Does she want to be? Why?!

HenDoNot · 24/03/2025 17:03

If she’s stupid enough to have never asked for a video call over however many years she’s been talking to this bloke, then she knows the whole thing is just fantasy, she’s loving the attention, and now wants even more attention by getting you involved for a bit of extra drama.

She could solve this today by asking him for a video call tonight.

But she won’t.

Because she knows he’s some odd bod who lives in his mums basement, and not the hot guy whose photos she’s been receiving.

But now she’s got you searching photos and posting in here and going over theories of who he might be, with her.

Does she have much else going on in her life? I’d guess not.

eyeoflifehe · 24/03/2025 17:04

You need to look at Pim Eyes
google lens search doesn’t search faces anymore due to data privacy

AgnesX · 24/03/2025 17:09

Totally off point but don't you always want to know who these people are.... like post a pic and we can see or we can all go snooping.

Or is that just me 😳

Shegotanology · 24/03/2025 17:12

@AgnesX It's probably this guy.

I just AI generated him.

Enough4me · 24/03/2025 17:13

He could be asking her for money and photos telling her to keep it quiet.
I hope you find out more, but also ask her really honestly does he ask her anything else?

AgnesX · 24/03/2025 17:16

Looks like an aged AI version of David Beckham 😁

I just AI generated him.

Great effort 😃

Does that really matter? She’s a good friend trying to stop her friend getting scammed.

GreenApplesOnTheTree · 24/03/2025 17:22

Following with interest. I've been trying to find out who someone is recently and have not been able to. As a previous poster said, Google Lens no longer works on faces for privacy reasons. I tried PimEyes and strangely that doesn't find photos I tested of myself, even though they are online (social media accounts set to public)!

PoliticalSatay · 24/03/2025 17:23

Thanks guys. Appreciate all the help. I've found him on facecheeck.id as suggested. He's a model (guy in photos). Pretty sure it's not the guy my friend has been speaking to.

blessingindisguise22 · 24/03/2025 17:26

It's not highly likely that the photos are AI generated just because he can't be found online. What tosh.

Your friend should ask for a video call with him though.
