Can you get a first time passport if you don`t know your parents

Just after some advice.
Trying to get a first time adult passport im in no rush but i have hit a wall.
I dont know my parents only one is on my birth certificate my mother but its not her real name there is no trace of her at all.
My mothers name on my certificate dose not exist all checks have been done and there is no trace of said woman.
My dad is unknown.
I dont know any family at all as i was raised in care homes.
As anyone had this problem.

I think you can write what you know under parents details but I also think social services can help with a status letter/supporting documents if you still have contact with them. If not you could get back in contact and ask them to support?
