Hacked Facebook account - anyone managed to solve this?

Having major issues with my Facebook account. Had a few emails in the past week to say someone had tried to login from locations that weren’t me, so of course changed my password. Then yesterday I tried to login and it said my account had been suspended, due to activity that breached their rules on a linked Instagram account that isn’t mine. I’ve tried all the options on Facebook, nothing works, I’m going round in circles. My husband has also tried. I’ve googled and watched videos on how to supposedly solve this, nothing. One suggested option is to sign up to a (paid) verified Meta account, which then apparently gives you some kind of support. I’d rather not do this, but running out of ideas. I know there are bigger fish to fry, but I’m sad about possibly losing all those memories. Has anyone had this issue and found a solution? I’d be so grateful for any help.

Sorry for not coming back sooner, but just to say I got my account back yesterday! I signed up to Meta verified (£9.99 a month), and was then able to start a chat with their support service. I outlined what had happened in as much detail as a I could. The chat was a bit slow back and forth, but they asked for a few more details, including another email address not previously linked to the account, to use for recovery. It was pretty quick in the end, as I started the process on Sunday and got the account back Thurs. When I went back into FB, there were a few stages to confirm it was me. I’m well aware this may be a scam to get people to sign up for their paid service, but ultimately it got what I wanted. I’m not trying to sell something by the way, I’ve been on here for years, but hopefully this might help someone else.

Congratulations on recovering your account. How long did it take to get approved for Meta Verified after submitting a selfie video?

IthasYes · 19/04/2025 07:57

What the benefit to them though?

I didn’t have to provide a selfie video, just ID. I can’t remember how long that bit took, but it was quick.

To get the fees I suppose. I intend to cancel it though, so it’ll only be one payment.

Oh I see, no idea, I wondered the same!

I have been approved this morning after submitting a selfie video. I had the same issue as yours. This happened in December 2024 and now I only have about two months to sort this out.

I was able to get through to Meta Support via Meta Verified. I selected the “hacked account” option in the "access" section, but unfortunately, they weren’t much help. They just directed me to the Facebook hacked account section and told me to choose “My account was compromised.”
Since you managed to recover your account, I was wondering if you could share what exactly you said or did to get them to take action? This account means a lot to me, and I’d really appreciate any tips or guidance you can offer.
Thanks so much!

This happened to me recently and somehow, they got access to my phone contact list. I don't even have my phone number saved on my FB account. I also have 2 factor authentication in place.

They made a new account name using my details and added lots of random people from my phone contacts. Some of these people I am no longer in contact with. Fb won't delete the new account.

I've had to get a new number and change every password on everything.

This is really shocking stuff
