Do stats results affects what set you get streamed into in secondary school ?

I thought the secondary schools did their own assessments ?

Unless the school have pupils with such a range of results that they can neatly allocate them into classes then usually the schools do their own tests

On the first day of term they will be put into classes but then they will do their own tests and then reallocate pupils based on the results
