As a family we have decided to eat much healthier and get out for more walks (stopping by the woods this afternoon on the way home from school, I took ds to soft play with a school friend last night and going again tomorrow night). I will aim to get us exercise 2-3 times a week. I know it should be more, but its a definite starting point.
Eating much healthier - cutting out unhealthy cereals, more fruits as snacks, smaller portions at dinner (especially pasta!) and including vegetables he will eat at meal times.
How long generally will it be until we start to see results in our ds? As a reference he is just turned 7, 129cm and around 6 stone 9lbs - which is above bmi levels. Looking at him, he is larger built as the men are in our family , it's mainly his tummy and face that carries the extra weight. He is one of the tall ones in his class so I think in our head that justified his larger portions.
As I said, we are doing this as a family and talk more so around the the health benefits of eating healthier and more exercise. We used to be so good up until he was around 4, then sadly life events took over (multiple bereavements, illnesses, moving house) but enough is enough.
