Working 4.5 days in 4 - anyone done this?

No kids, some health issues. Have evening events a couple of times a month anyway and too senior to get TOIL for that. And often end up working past finish time anyway. Team (people and focus) is rejigging so good time to get this factored in to resourcing planning and so more likely that I wouldn’t just end up working full time hours anyway.

Feels like a good balance of the financial hit and manageable length of days. Anyone able to share their experiences please?

Yes. Do 4 full days in 3 as compressed hours. Marvellous. 10.5 hr days and easily doable for me. May not work for everyone and every role but so much better for my work life balance.

I do 4.5 in 4 which means we're 0.9 of an FTE. I didn't want the pressure of trying to cram 5 whole days into 4 as it would mean early starts and late finishes - hard to commit to every day of the week. 0.9 works well. I tend to check messages on my day off though to stay on top of things.

Yeah this was exactly my reasoning - any more in a day (on a regular basis) would be a bit much for me

Bumping for the daytime crowd… but also would welcome suggestions on which day to have as a non working day. I was thinking Wednesday as it helps break up the week plus it would mean I wouldn’t be unavailable for long gaps. Wouldn’t be allowed a Monday and feel like Friday is a wind down anyway…
