Hey Everyone, so I'm a mam to football mad daughter 😅 so I've been dropped into the secatory roll 😬 Eekk! Would be lovely to chat with others in similar situations as I'm struggling to work out how to find tournaments ect even down to players! How do you all do it 😅.. HELP!! I want to make it work for the girls.

I am secretary for my DS's team.
My roll includes:
Arranging a pitch with the club for home games
Liaising with away team regarding kick off/ addresses etc
We have a WhatsApp group where I do a poll for player availability
There is a WhatsApp group for the league where all coaches/ secreteries' contact details are available and people advertise tournaments on there.

Is it an established team she is joining or starting from scratch? The grassroots football Facebook group is quite useful

Just to add I also report the scores to the FA.

As a starting point, if you haven't already got one, you will need to get a FAN by registering with the FA and will probably have to complete a couple of safeguarding courses. You will also need to contact the league to add you as a contact for your team

Thank you so much, yeah the FA have given me a FAN number and I've completed the safeguarding courses. Yeah an established team so all current players are registered already 😅 thankfully. I will definitely look into these groups as arranging friendlies is definitely something I need to do as the season had just ended for us with no matches. We nearly didn't have a ref for our home match 🙈 and I didn't know where to find one so as you can imagine the pickle was a nightmare 😳. Luckily we found one but I was saying to another mam really everything should be easier to access. 😣. Thank you 😁 x
