Mefanamic acid - will my doctor prescribe?

Was on a spa day recently and was having the most painful period. Didn't have any painkillers on me but my friend had Mefanamic acid tablets, that she takes for the same reason.

She gave me one (I know i shouldn't really take someone else's prescribed meds!) and it was like a magic pill! Sorted out the pain within about 20 mins!

I'd like to ask my doctor for some, but am worried I'll look like some pain pill junkie!

I'm 45, peri and generally in good health - do you think theyll prescribe?

Yes they should. I get prescribed them for period pain and have done for years. Not ideal to be on nsaids all the time but they are the only drug that controls the pain for me.

They're just like ibuprofen that work better for pelvic pain. They're not addiction related. I've had them for years, I'm sure they'll prescribe without any question

You can get them via Superdrug online doctor.

You can also get them from Boots online doctor. They are £28 for one box though which is £1 per tablet 🙈 I'm sure a GP would prescribe it though if you asked. It's not an addictive painkiller

OK, thanks all. Will ask at next GP appt
