I have too much meat! What can I do here?

Went to market. End up leaving with a ridiculous amount of meat.

1.3kg mince
36 sausages
God knows how much rump steak but too much!

Can rump be frozen?

I am about to make some burgers for freezing. Any favourite recipes?

Maybe batch cook the rest of the mince into bolognese to freeze?

24 of the sausages have been split up and frozen. I should probably just freeze them all.

Musings of a mad woman.

How’s your day going? 🙃

All of those can be split up and frozen in batches. I regularly come home from the butchers with way too much but just freeze until I want to cook it. Certainly rump steak can be frozen as can mince.

You can freeze anything girl! I often get excited in the Asda reduced section and buy loads of meat destined for the freezer 😭😭

I buy 100 food bags for £1 and divvy up the meat into portions - that's what I'd do, plus I'd make bangers and mash for dinner 🤭

Bought 2 kg of chicken breasts for £9 today, which i thought was alright

I've bought myself a pretty bottle of sauv blanc for when dd goes to bed. Gonna listen to some music, maybe catch up on this weeks eastenders, just have an evening to myself 🙌🥰

Make a big batch of Bolognese sauce and make some lasagna too for the freezer??? It can all be frozen for a later date 📅

Split the mince in two and make one bolognese/ragu base and one cottage pie base.

Layer up a lasagne and leave the cottage pie base to cool.

Cook lasagne tomorrow and portion into easy weekday reheatable size portions and freeze/fridge as needed.

Have cottage pie at some point in the next few days- it will keep a couple of days in the fridge.

Make scotch eggs with leftover sausages or have them for breakfast in the morning.

Steak for tea tomorrow and freeze the rest.

Depends how many you are catering for daily I suppose?

How much did it all cost?

I once read a very funny book about Australia, which alleged that the Aussies have steak and eggs for breakfast. Go for it.
You can freeze all of it, but you haven't. Tomorrow, if you think you've got too much fresh meat in the fridge you can just freeze a bit more. It won't go off in one day in the fridge.
Edited to add 2 words and put the t on it.

Woah I tired self out cooking and portioning 😅

I made 6 giant smash burgers.
A whole casserole pot to the brim of bolognese. There’s four family portions to defrost and a couple of small ones for kids.
Froze sausages into 3 portions of 10 sausages (for one family dinner) and 3 portions of 2 sausages (for son)
Tonight we are an eat as much as you steak meal and the we will freeze the left like you suggest 😊

Going for a combo of these recipes for steak tonight…
