Annoyed I didn’t get job

The other week someone I know rang me up and said there was a job going and would I be interested, I said yes and they said if I do an application and go through the interview the job will be mine and they think I should go for it and they’ve spoken to their manager and they are happy to take me on however I have to go through the interview process.
Had the interview and within an hour she rang me back to say sorry but we have decided to give the job to someone else however we will keep you in mind for the future.
I feel so annoyed about this as she pretty much said they are keen to take me on and they wanted me to go for it but then said I haven’t got the job.
They gave me good feedback from the interview though. I feel like I wish I hadn’t gone to the effort now.

Someone changed their mind. Maybe your 'friend' thought it would be too familiar to have you working there, and had second thought........ Also though, she had no business telling you that you have got the job. She could not have known that you were going to get it.

It's really annoying for you, but at least the company seem to have followed a fair process, rather than just handed the job to a friend/acquaintance of someone involved in the hiring, with a token interview.

Hopefully as you had good interview feedback this will translate into future success.

Unless your friend was the hiring manager or otherwise had a say in who gets the job then she had no business telling you you were a shoe in for the role.
You were pretty silly to believe her tbh.
