Places to visit in the Midlands

I live not too far from Oakham and I'm wondering if you could tell me about some lovely places to visit for a day out with my children (over 11)
I love nature and walks and history but I do like a nice street and shops to wander in as well. Not so keen on shopping centre/busy high street places
We've been to Moreton in the Marsh and around there and lots of national trust houses but would love to discover more.
Look forward to hearing some ideas
Thank you!

Forgot to add.. maybe an hour away max from where I live so no seaside trips.
Want to discover some places closer to home
