Day 4 of DS tummy bug - GP or not

I should start by saying that we are very lucky and my kids have had relatively few tummy bugs so I’m not sure if this is normal.

DS, 6, has had vomiting and diarrhoea since Saturday. It’s not continuous. There have been periods when he’s been ok - not puking, holding holding food down. Though he hasn’t had a solid poo at all.

It feels weird to me because on the few occasions he and DD have been sick, it’s been short and intense - all over in 24 hours.

So I’m wondering if he has some sort of weird bug that might need an antibiotic?

The other weird thing is that we are all fine, despite having been at close quarters with him and up to our elbows cleaning up puke. We have been cleaning and washing hands very carefully but still.

Interested to know if other people would go to the GP at this stage or ride it out.

Ps I’m posting because he just puked again and rather spectacularly managed to get poo on the bathroom door at the same time as he was caught short on the landing with no pants on. Poor thing, he’s so miserable.

We recently had this couple of weeks ago and vomiting ended day 4 and day 5 dc had diarrhoea. I was too worried as the previous bugs were 24 hours of around the clock vomiting spree but this went for over 4 days. Ring gp tomorrow if it vomiting is still present but it's viral so not sure how they will be able to help. Make sure you give them the diarolyte sachets and give tiny sips of water and introduce beige foods such as toast, mashed potato. Avoid milk and dairy for a bit and give calpol only if they have a fever or tummy cramps as ivrupofen will aggravate it more.

Highly unlikely any vomiting bug would respond to antibiotics. If anything they tend to cause upset stomachs.
What has he been eating? Sometimes less violent bugs can take a bit longer to clear the system… and dairy can deffo lengthen it.
