What has MN ruined for you? (Lighthearted)

Recently I was reading a book where the main character lived with her partner and his two children from his previous marriage. He didn’t want to marry her but said she could own a stake in his flat, so long as she sorted it out. She did school pickups for his kids and he got annoyed if she wanted him to organise eg a plumber and expected her to cut in to her work day instead of him. But when she had to step up for her aging mother he said “What are YOU going to do about it?” so didn’t expect to be involved in anyway. And she was aware her ILs preferred his ex-wife.

And all I could think of was LTB!!!!! I’m sure before MN and the relationships boards I wouldn’t have thought it was a great situation but now I was incensed! Has anyone else had similar?

Planning my wedding. People seem incredibly hard to impress 🤣

Thinking my opinion was right. It's done me the world of good to hear viewpoints outside of my (left wing, easy going, liberal) bubble. Made me more thoughtful and considered. Whilst still holding to my values.

Learning my grasp of the English language, grammar, spelling, bloody apostrophes is shit. If you've never been into pedants corner, stay away!

That no one believes I can get three full family sized dinners and one lunch out of a single roast chicken. It gets scoffed at and mocked on here but I genuinely roasted a chicken on Sunday and used the dark meat for a roast dinner. Then yesterday, Monday, I used 1 breast for sandwiches for lunch and the other breast for a chicken Caesar salad dinner, and tonight we had chicken noodle soup made from boiling the leftovers.

SnowFrogJelly · 12/03/2025 00:49

Soup and salad are not dinners

Mnjmnj · 12/03/2025 00:55

One of mine would inhale a chicken breast as an amuse bouche in one bite - how on earth does that spread to sandwiches for a family (of four)?! I am one of the disbelievers :)

@Stirabout people peeing etc in them. Although a boil with white vinegar should sort it.

You know I had a horrible feeling that could be it.
I already travel with my own frying pan If staying in a cottage so I think I’ll be doing the same with a kettle now.

Honestly the vinegar clean isn’t doing it for me 🤢🤢

@SnowFrogJelly & @Mnjmnj I rest my case 😆

There were veggies, including spuds, and Yorkshire puddings with the roast, salad in the sandwiches, carbs with the salad (garlic dough balls) and some bacon and sweetcorn cobs on side and a shit ton of noodles and sweetcorn in the soup with buttered bread to dunk. The actual chicken is the smallest part of all these dinners and they were all large meals. Honest!
