Are you ready for the cold weather to return?

I'm a winter woman. Love the dark cold mornings, the run up to Christmas, the rain

I'm being so serious 😭

But this last week was lovely. Really enjoyed the spring sunshine and switched dd's winter coat for a spring jacket (the coat is coming back tomorrow). Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm not looking forward to it getting colder again

Sorry for the boring thread about the weather 😅 x

I literally switched into summer mode... I'm gutted

Ilikewinter · 10/03/2025 15:31

Nope I'm not ready either, last week sat at home in a t-shirt, today back to a jumper, I realised how much of a better mood I was also in last week!

Springhassprungxx · 10/03/2025 15:38

I was living my best life all weekend, woke up shivering today. So not ready!!

SausageRoll2020 · 10/03/2025 15:38

I felt so much happier just for being able to get out in the sunshine.
Roll on proper spring!

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 10/03/2025 15:41

I was eyeing up my sandals on Saturday, but now wearing my woolly hat for dog walks again. 🙁

Itsalwaysfools · 10/03/2025 15:42

Can't bear the sun and heat, so I'm delighted to return back to single digit temperatures.

Delatron · 10/03/2025 15:43

Last week was so lovely. We need the sun for our health. It’s not healthy to be cooped up inside under artificial light for months on end (or festering under a blanket like so many on here love to do).

Yes you can go out when it’s cold and rainy. I do. But it’s all a bit easier and more pleasant when the sun is out and it’s not pissing it down. I spent hours in the sun last week in my garden. Bliss.

I felt the best I’ve done in a long time last week. I must be solar powered…

5128gap · 10/03/2025 15:43

The weekend was fantastic! I felt so great. Spent hours of it outdoors and wore light colours which cheers me up. Not that bothered it's chilly again as I expected it and it was just a lovely glimpse of what's to come. I've given up on moaning about seasons as it occurred to me that while I'm longing for the next season, that's my precious life I'm wishing away, and the years are speeding by fast enough, so I try to be positive about every weather these days.

Sinkintotheswamp · 10/03/2025 15:44

Nope.
Laundry and tidy up central in this house. One teen has been chalking pictures on the patio and it looks lovely. The warm spring can stay. With a bit of rain at night for the farmers and wildlife.

HarryVanderspeigle · 10/03/2025 15:44

No, it can fuck off. Yesterday was my ideal weather. Perfect for gardening and walking, not too hot. Every day should be yesterday.

Jackdoor · 10/03/2025 15:46

At least it's staying sunny and dry - if you're in the northwest, anyway. It's the rain I can't stand. Cold isn't as bad.

CalicoPusscat · 10/03/2025 15:46

@mumofoneAlonebutokay that's what we Brits do!

I heard it would be colder next week. I was sweltering today in a poloneck, black cord skirt and tights. I had a furtive feel underneath the poloneck in a meeting but alas no t-shirt so there was no respite and I was praying for rain. Sure I'll be moaning about the cold soon.

valder · 10/03/2025 15:58

Well it's nearly time for April showers too! Every day we are alive is a gift.

My brother and his wife are in Estepona Spain for a two week break. They are home tomorrow. It has rained (heavily) every single day of their trip. But they got on with it and grabbed every break in the clouds, bought a mac and brolly and enjoyed it as best they could. Now THAT is disappointing for them.

nahthatsnotforme · 10/03/2025 16:00

The weekend was ideal. Warm enough to get out and about and cold enough at night to sleep.

I'd have that all year.

😄 it's true, literally every year I despair that its hot already, then accept it for it to be cold again

Same, I'm trying to appreciate each season more

Although nothing compares to that September to Christmas day period for me

I also love winter but I'm ready for warmer weather and the freezing shivery weather really caught me by surprise today

Echobelly · 10/03/2025 16:16

I was prepared as I'm always checking weather ahead so I knew we were just getting a few days. Still, it's better than March last year which was absolutely freezing (like 4 or 5C) until near the end. It is improving gradually in a week and a half though, in SE at least.

Delatron · 10/03/2025 16:19

I mean for those that don’t like the heat. It wasn’t actually hot and we are back to an average of 7 degrees now for the rest of the week. So I think you’re all good…heaven help us if we have a few days break from the relentless cold and wet and grey…

Can I ask what about the sun you don't like ? I can understand the heat because I get uncomfortable myself in the heat sometimes but I do love the sunshine

piscofrisco · 10/03/2025 16:58

I've just got back from work (work on a farm where adults with LD and MH issues come for day activities). I am cold, achey and my nose is dripping like a tap. Everyone was in much lower mood today compared with last week when they were literally singing whilst going about their work.
Back to work in Thermals tomorrow and not at all happy about it.

Ilovelowry · 10/03/2025 17:15

It was nearly 20 degrees this weekend and I absolutely loved it.

But I've had surgery today and need to recuperate and it's easier to have a daytime sleep when it's cold and grey!

But generally this weekend made my heart soar and I was a much happier mother and wife.

LlynTegid · 10/03/2025 17:15

Don't like it but am prepared. At least we have daylight until 6pm or so now.
