Help!! I am going to see my daughters friend in hospital this afternoon (very close to her) after a serious accident I want to get some bits for her but have drawn a blank!! She's had life changing injuries but just want to cheer her up a bit, was thinking specially nice shower gels and face masks, magazines... she's like a daughter to me but any extra ideas I'd really like

What a nice idea! When I was in hospital I appreciated magazines, a comfy blanket to sleep under (rather than the hospital sheet) and a little fan for my table (because I got way too hot on the ward).

Squash, an extra long lead for a mobile phone charger, dry shampoo and some nice lip salve.

Do you know the nature of her life changing injuries? (No! Not asking you to share here!) For instance, if she's not going to be able to shower for weeks, shower gel would feel insensitive. So anything suggested, do think whether it's still okay with how she currently is.

Does depend a bit on how restricted/mobile she is now.

Something like a v shaped pillow if she's up to sitting up to watch TV or read - everything slides down hospital beds and hospital pillows are crap
Lip balm
Dry shampoo if no head injuries
Nice shower stuff if she's able to shower
Favourite snacks if she's allowed/able to eat
If she can get up and move around, a gift card for any on site coffee shops and maybe a good thermos cup to take a posh coffee back to her bed
The longest charger cable you can find
Name labels for anything she's taken in with her
Eye mask and earplugs

A jigsaw, wordsearch/crossword/sudoku book or pack of cards with a book of card games for one.

Snacks are always a good plan. Hospital food is awful! She'd appreciate you asking what she'd like I'm sure as when I was in hospital I had a list of food things I always wanted people to bring for me!
