Hadn’t prepared myself for just how big the place was. Surprisingly calm though.

WOOF!

whowhatwerewhy · 08/03/2025 17:31

Oh I'm going tomorrow 😀

sideeyes · 08/03/2025 19:05

I was quite overwhelmed. Also amazed at how many dogs there were to pet. Kids were in heaven!

We're planning on getting there early and hope for the best with the traffic.
DD said the DDog has given her a shopping list 😂

Went a couple if years ago. What surprised me was how close you get to the dogs being showed, and how they’re left in the booths in the main halls. I presumed they’d be in a hall away from the public.

I went 10 years ago to Crufts, and went back to the same venue for the Horse of the Year show last autumn. The NEC is an impressive place. I wouldn't want to try crufts at the weekends though it'll be rammed. I went on the Thursday when they had the gundogs on that day.

It was insanely big. I expected it to be really busy as it was a Saturday but it was wild. So many people and so many dogs. Fab though, saw our dog’s brothers take first and third in their class which was lovely.

Edited

I was surprised to see those showing the dogs talking to one another in the ring. I thought it would be way more unfriendly than it seemed

Does Crufts smell really, really, really strongly of dog? I've always imagined it must smell absolutely horrific with so many of them in one place.

i was expecting it to and it didn’t smell of anything (although I do have a cold right now). Not full of barking either.

Gosh, that's amazing!

Costacoffeeplease · 08/03/2025 20:01

Why would it smell of dogs? They’re all bathed and groomed to the enth degree.

Yes, it was quite informal, with competitors chatting to people watching also. I thought it would be alot more serious and formal.

The outfits also fascinated me. More formal suits, tweed outfits, brightly coloured suits (some, looking very 80s). Some outfits showed their dogs off well, others didn’t.

Gundogday · 09/03/2025 20:26

Who do you want to win best in show?

Elderflower14 · 09/03/2025 20:32

Jack Russell or Cocker Spaniel for me!!

Gundogday · 09/03/2025 20:37

That is a good JR although I don’t like JRs.

Gundogday · 09/03/2025 20:57

Whipoet won - she’s a good looking dog.
