Sunny holiday in August (not Europe!)

Any suggestions for a nice sunny holiday in August for 2 weeks with a toddler and small baby? Usually we do Malta but fancy something different this year and slightly further away.

What’s your budget?
How long are you willing to be on a flight for with a baby & a toddler?
How sunny do you want it to be?

Mauritius / Mexico /Sri Lanka

Personally when they are that age a beach / pool / park kept them occupied so a 2hr flight in Europe was quite enough for me!

Budget around 6-7k. Would prefer long haul! Around 10h max flight. Is it not rainy season in Mauritius?

Nope, it is their winter but still warm (low 20s)
Flight is about 12hrs (& could be longer with any delays) it’s wetter & hotter now

If you can go outside school summer holidays that budget might be ok as you wouldn’t have to pay for a seat for the baby and could all sleep in one room.

I have not done this, but if you have to go long haul during our summer, I’d aim for somewhere else that August is their summer.

So…. Canada for example?

I have done St Lucia and Barbados in July / August . It is hurricane season but we only had a few rain downpours .

Hmm would prefer somewhere warm. I’m now thinking Canada! But no beach, argh!

Mauritius was gorgeous when we went in August a couple of years ago.

Secondarystruggles · 08/03/2025 16:14

What do you want from the holiday? Relaxation (probably not with a baby & toddler!) Sightseeing? culture? Heat? Or not as hot as Malta? Why further afield?

Wouldn’t be my choice but Dubai?

There are some lovely resorts in Mexico if you wanted a purely beach/pool holiday. Or Singapore?

Canada has the longest coastline on the planet so I'm pretty sure they have beaches 😂

We've done Zanzibar in August - perfect time for it.
