I have been on MN for more than 15 years. Also, I am 62 years old. So, I have a good sense of what kind of threads come up here and how politics has developed in recent decades. And, I have a PhD, not boasting just saying that I read a bit and I am not bad at critical thinking.
My question is why TF are there no threads on imminent WW3 with Russia? Politicians all over Europe are talking about it, even German ones! Despite MN having a lot of mummy subscribers it has also always had several meaty discussion threads on politics on the go. This evening when we are in the most serious situation I have known in my lifetime there is nothing at all. It's all the usual questions about whether to accept school places, rifts with friends etc. All important topics of course, but is nobody really concerned about the situation at all really? I am convinced that MN is deleting any discussion around this situation we seem to be sliding towards.
Among many, many other things I would like to see discussed here are:
-Do we really want to have our spending on health and social services cut yet again, so we can buy more weapons?
-Do we want to go to war with Russia? Why? what's the end game?
-Why are we jumping in to cover what Trump suddenly doesn't want to spend money on?
-Is there anything we can do to resist Trump? Most of us are women. We know very well that direct action for change is laughed at and called 'silly' I have seen that on some recent boycott threads on here. And yet, we know that being silly and strident actually can bring about change eventually. What can we do?
I have used a covert thread title because I am certain MN are censoring what we discuss.
