I can’t speak for Nik Kershaw but I saw the Lightning Seeds recently and they were great. It was at a festival and even the young ‘uns who were lining the barriers to see Fred Again were dancing along at the end.

Nik Kershaw was the first act I ever saw live. 1984 Ipswich Gaumont.. He was brilliant!!

WhitstablePearl · 07/03/2025 18:33

The Ipswich Gaumont was my first concert venue too!

I saw OMD there. I would have loved to see Nik Kershaw

Nitgel · 07/03/2025 18:35

I recently saw nik kershaw so would say the lightening seeds. I dunno I just wasn't blown away and he had some odd fans😶

Coffeeishot · 07/03/2025 18:36

I saw Nick Kershaw at a radio 1 roadshow In 1980(something) he was great go see him for the nostalgia.

AprilF00L · 07/03/2025 18:38

@Nitgel. "Odd fans" ?

So a bit conflicting.

Lighting seeds for me. Know more of their songs

ApolloandDaphne · 07/03/2025 18:41

I saw Nik Kershaw back to day too. Somewhere in Edinburgh. I would go see the Lightening Seeds now.

Nitgel · 07/03/2025 18:52

I mean lots of blokes right at the front and being a bit aggressive and boozed up. Bit different to how I imagined

At Nick Kershaw? I would expect middle aged women and their husbands although the lagery men might have been the husbands 😀

Nitgel · 07/03/2025 18:57

I know it was odd. There were lots of us middle aged women too but jostled by the taller blokes. Where's he playing ? This was at shepherd's Bush theatre so was a bit small.

BlackStrayCat · 07/03/2025 18:57

NK is a gay icon. I organised a huge gay event and had to organise him and his soundcheck! He was absolutely delightful.

I dontknow who I would choose.

Coffeeishot · 07/03/2025 19:00

Was it maybe lairy gay men at shepherds bush 😂

Coffeeishot · 07/03/2025 19:01

I would be scared Lightening seeds would do a couple of rounds of 3 Lions, and it got out of hand.

weegiemum · 07/03/2025 20:10

Nick Kershaw was my first concert too, at the Edinburgh Playhouse in 1984, I was 13!

So I think I'd go to that for the nostalgia and knowing all the words to all the songs!!

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 07/03/2025 20:14

Lightening Seeds for me. The soundtrack of me and DHs early days, back in the mid 90s. Married 26 years this year, would bring back happy memories.

Or it might have been 85 !

MMAMPWGHAP · 07/03/2025 20:26

Neither. Have a day at Rewind South in Henley instead. But get there early to avoid the queues.

oooh interesting. We could take campervan there. Have you tried it? Had mixed results with camping at shows (unbelievably bad at Heritage show at Sandringham) and not great at Cropredy Festival either https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/heritagelive.com?page=2

Heritagelive is rated "Bad" with 1.7 / 5 on Trustpilot

I can't stand that song. Don't think this would be an issue at Hampton Hill swimming pool though.

Lightning Seeds for me. I could feel like a teenager again.

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/03/2025 11:11

Lucky you OP: For me it'd beThe Lightning Seeds, pure and simple.

AprilF00L · 08/03/2025 12:48

Difficult choice but I went for The Lightning Seeds. It's a fab intimate venue if anyone is thinking about it. Outdoor, under the trees, sitting on deck chairs. Can have a swim at the outdoor pool before hand. Holds I guess between 800 - 1000 people. Very family friendly.
