I'm away with work but I'm apparently going to make loads of money via a crypto and no skills . I've been playing along since 5 . I have a cybersecurity MSc and am currently working with the Home Office. It's funny.but too many people could be taken in. Lots of money no skills. Please don't fall for lots of money and no skills.

Yeah i have.

The first time i got one of the 'Mum I've done x y z and need money'' texts i nearly fell for it. I mean i wouldn't have got anywhere near sending money before realising, but this was about dropping a phone and came while one of my young adult DDs happened to be away on holiday and she has form for dropping her phone's in the sea!

Anyway ... second time i got one of these texts i played along (i was v bored that aft.) and had them messaging for ages. Along the lines of why don't you ask your Dad? Them saying he's not answering. Me saying 'but you're away with him!' ect and waiting for them to find ways to wiggle round it.

They gave up in the end.

Also, for one of those 'i hear you've had an accident' calls, i said yes it was fatal. I died. The caller very gravely said ''...... oh. Oh I am sorry!'' 😅

I used to with the ones who phoned the land line and said the internet was slow.
I'd string them on for ages wasting their time. One told me I was the biggest liar in the whole world and another one told me he was going to come to my house and punch my head.

My teens love talking to a spammer. Last one that made me laugh was when one was string them along put the phone in a saucepan and hit it repeatedly with a wooden spoon, then picked it up and carried on talking. I usually wrap things up by asking them if their parents know what they do for a ‘living’

Only the telephone ones as I think every minute spent on a call to me is a minute they can't spend scamming someone more vulnerable.

I'm not rude, I just say that someone has come to the door and can they hold the line. I put the phone to one side and carry on with my work. Sometimes they call back, but rarely more than once.
