Talk to me about your garden offices

I currently wfh in the spare bedroom and my children share, but I would like them to have their own rooms now. My downstairs is a decent size but there's not really anywhere to put a desk. So I'm thinking of a garden office. I've been quoted 28k for a 4m x 3m, this is a top end version I think and does include some bits like removing the old summer house that's in situ atm.

My mum is convinced I'm making a mistake and won't actually use the space as it'll be at the end of the garden rather than attached to the house.

Please could you tell me if you've had a garden office built and rough ideas of cost? What do you use it for, are you happy with it, any tips?

We really use it a lot. It's an office and crafting room with a very occasional sofa bed.

You need to have a pathway out to it with lighting, obviously. And run power and internet out, with capacity for a good heater. Otherwise it mainly comes down to insulation as they can get cold in winter. Ours is just a log type one, we've insulated the walls, floor and roof. I love it.
