What is this that I want to eat?

I want a beef dish in a light but rich sauce to be served with sticky rice.
Gingery, beefy, with oyster mushrooms and some green stuff (sugar snaps or something?) - what recipe do I need to look for?!
Ramen is too watery/wet/too much liquid, I want something more reduced.
What do I need to type in for this kind of recipe?! I’m a terribly un creative cook, I can follow a recipe just fine but I don’t know what recipe to follow 😂
please help!!
also sorry if adds a gif to my post, I accidentally pressed the stupid gif button instead of post and it won’t go away 😭

Beef, green pepper and black bean sauce.

TheChosenTwo · 02/03/2025 18:03

Hmm I’m not sure, i don’t like black bean sauce. I’ll have a look at the recipe and see if there are other suggestions on the website - thanks both!

Something Thai?

SoScarletItWas · 02/03/2025 18:28

I would make this

BBC Good Food Braised Beef with Ginger

and just chuck some oyster mushrooms and sugar snap peas or bok choi in it.

Or a quick one here:

My favourite is beef strips, soy sauce, honey, garlic and ginger. Sweet and sticky beef. I do it with strips of peppers but could use any veg!

PersephoneSmith · 02/03/2025 18:43

Beef with ginger and spring onion, a staple of Chinese restaurant menus.

TheChosenTwo · 02/03/2025 18:45

Oh yes lots of good options here, thank you so much.
I’m about to start a thread on another cooking conundrum, feel free to follow me over there to further advise 😂
I know people probably use AI for this sort of stuff but I prefer actual humans!

You want beef Pad Kra Pao / Krapow/ Gra prow

https://www.beyondkimchee.com/thai-beef-and-basil-stir-fry/

I highly recommend getting a bottle of Ketjap Manis if you like that sticky soy/ginger taste - I get mine from M&S but I think sainburys do it too. Sainsburys tends to be a good place to get the Thai basil from as well in the fresh herbs.

I do a version of the above recipe based on a Thai street food vendor that I come across occassionslly at local events. Theirs is far superior to what I can produce but I get a little closer each time.

TheChosenTwo · 03/03/2025 17:57

I bought some ketjap manis last week in anticipation!
thanks; I’m about to whip up some kind of concoction… wish me luck 🍀
