Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

lucysmam · 02/03/2025 09:39

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my own kitchen spot, while the kittens (who are actually a year old in 20 days!) are sat in the window. Everyone else is asleep & it's lovely and quiet!

Today will be a very quiet day here. I need to unpack my overnight bag & put back the things I took out of my work bag, do some washing and make sure everyone has everything for tomorrow.

Once that's done, I'm going to make dd1's bows for Gracie Abrams on Tuesday, and maybe a few more bracelets. Dd2's supposed to be heading to Lidl for pancake toppings with their dad, too.

Both girls have some homework to be done; dd1 needs a very firm kick up the bum at the moment, with regard to her A Levels! She's now not sure about uni, so is slacking & that needs to change sharpish.

I have no idea what's for tea 🤷‍♀️ I thought something would have been got out of the freezer...but no. So we'll pick from what's in there that cooks from frozen!

After that it's early showers all round, followed by early to bed for me and the girls 💤 ready for work and school tomorrow morning.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! Listening to the radio and drinking coffee here. Beautiful morning!

I did all the crappy housework yesterday so today (aside from ironing some school shirts) is all mine. I’m off into town later to see the Last Showgirl at the cinema. DD is fast asleep, she has some homework and will come into town later with me. I also need to pick up a Vinted parcel!

Gammon, sweet potato mash and roasted veg for dinner! I always claim I’ll have an early night but never do…!

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

gingercat02 · 02/03/2025 09:45

Oh, I'm first, that never happens. Morning @lucysmam
Hope you had a good day yesterday, you had good weather, back to grey skied today.
Have an easy day to recuperate.
I'm off to PiYo in about half an hour, just finishing my coffee.
DH abd DS have FA cup football this afternoon so I'm going to watch Bridget Jones' Baby before I go to see the new film on Tuesday.
Out for tea tonight as its the last day of HT.
Nice chilled day

gingercat02 · 02/03/2025 09:46

Almost!

theboffinsarecoming · 02/03/2025 09:49

Funily enough - just looking for this thread. I guessed there would be one.😂

I've been for a walk in the woods to admire the snowdrops and was delighted to find some primroses in flower as well. DH is changing our old toilet seat for a new one. I'm currently drinking coffee and fiddling about on here, and soon I shall don my gardening gloves and get cracking outside once it has all thawed out. Later on we will be having roast lamb, which reminds me... signing off now to go and make stuffing.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Pascha · 02/03/2025 09:51

Eating croissants and tea while annoying Ds2 with homework questions about the periodic table, spellings, Henry VIII and telling time in French. He's doing his best to ignore me while playing roblox at the table and drinking hot chocolate. (but still answering correctly, smug so-and-so)

Nothing exciting on the agenda today. Ds1 and dh are off to some motorsport event all day so I promised Ds2 could spend his pocket money in Smyths or similar later. He asked for Carbonara for dinner so nice and easy once the shopping comes this afternoon.

changednameagain1234 · 02/03/2025 09:52

Everyone still asleep here, I am in bed scrolling waiting for them to wake up.

Usually have a roast for lunch but today we are having a full English for a change (also dp and I are slightly hungover as went out for the first time in months for a meal last night).

2 loads of washing to do. Going to veg out in front of the tv this afternoon and watch a film.

Early to bed all round.

LostInAMist · 02/03/2025 09:58

Good morning! Just got back from a walk with the dog, will be heading out to the garden centre for a nosey and some coffee and cake in a bit! Then a day of just pottering about the garden and the fields, we did a lot of planting up yesterday, but I'm bound to come back with more stuff! Planning on salmon, asparagus and baby potatoes with salted butter for tea.
Have a good day all!

TheCatCameBack112 · 02/03/2025 10:01

Morning @lucysmam and all. I was up fairly early but unfortunately have a hangover as had an impromptu dinner and games night last night with too much vino. I've tidied up all the glasses and wine bottles (hide the evidence) and set some washing going.

I've had coffee and toast and a large glass of water and then been out to cheer on the runners doing a half marathon that goes past our house. My BIL and nephew were running so I did a few extra loud whoops and cheers. Now I've got back into bed with some more water and I'm going to read for a bit and then have a soak.

This afternoon I'll need to tackle the laundry mountain and I'm making lasagne. DD is home from uni for the weekend and it's her favourite. Early night for me tonight

RabbitsRock · 02/03/2025 10:04

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. In bed having had a cuppa with DH but seriously contemplating getting up. Might go to a craft fair a little way away as I saw on Facebook that someone is selling lovely handmade Mother’s Day cards there. Sitting with DM this afternoon whilst DF plays golf. Dishwasher needs unloading/loading & really must clear the draining board as it’s piled high with pots. Nice easy tea of either scampi or battered cod/haddock with skin on fries & petitpois. Looking forward to Call The Midwife (sadly last in the series tonight) & catching up with Corrie as we didn’t realise one of the nights had been changed.

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/03/2025 10:06

I've put the dining room curtains in for a wash as it's nice and sunny here so will put them on the line.

I was going to mow the grass today, but have had an arthritis flare up in my feet and hands, so that's scuppered that.

OH is off out later, so is the youngest, so I'll throw the hoover around and crash on the settee with a couple of episodes of Wheeler Dealers, coffee and codeine. Should be a relaxing afternoon.

DilemmaDelilah · 02/03/2025 10:07

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I woke up around 2 am for the first of many visits to the bathroom, so I've not had a good night. Mr Dilemma bought me some orange juice (at my request) yesterday and I don't think my delicate guts can take it. I had a bath around 6am and I've just woken up from an hour's additional sleep, which was very welcome.

I'm staying in bed today I think, nursing my cold. Not sure what we're eating tonight, but I think Mr Dilemma is going to make me my 'go to' invalid food of tuna macaroni. He bought himself some lamb steaks on his wildly expensive Sainsburys trip yesterday so he can eat those in peace without me. I find the smell of lamb disgusting at the best of times, but he loves it.

I'm currently working my way through Jilly Cooper's Rutshire series. My goodness they are so non-woke! But they are keeping me occupied and I do like having a book to read in the bath.

My poor sister was finally let home from hospital late yesterday evening after her lumpectomy. She's very bruised and in quite a bit of pain, but she says she is finding the cushion I made for her useful.

I got some delicious pork and caramelized onion sausages in my online butcher's order which arrived yesterday. I tend to be a bit wary of 'good' sausages as they are usually too full of pepper and herbs for my taste, but my goodness these are good! Really meaty and full of flavour. We might have them tomorrow, if I can persuade Mr Dilemma to buy a cabbage. He likes shopping so I don't think that will be a problem.

Giggorata · 02/03/2025 10:23

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am just pottering round, doing tea and pills, while DH is out with the dogs.
We are having a huge skip tomorrow (wow, they have gone up since the last time!) so I am lining up some items for that.
The kitchen is all but decorated now, so I will be revarnishing the cupboard doors today, which I couldn’t bring myself to have painted or wrapped.
I keep going into the kitchen to open my new big cupboard in the alcove and smirk at all the labelled jars of this and that. I feel so organised!
Roast duck with plum sauce for dinner tonight.

lucysmam · 02/03/2025 10:26

@LostInAMist @RabbitsRock I might follow your lead & do fish for tea!

@DilemmaDelilah I'm not keen on the smell of lamb either. Glad to see your sister has made it home & is finding your pillow useful. Hopefully a relaxing recovery for her now 🤞

@gingercat02 yes, definitely need an easy day to recuperate! I start off well but push a bit much sometimes & wear myself out 🙄. That said, I'm currently debating gig tickets for Wednesday with dd1...not sure I'll manage 2 in a row & work as well 🤔

@Giggorata your organised cupboard sounds like a thing of beauty 😊

I'm on tea duty tonight. Steak and Ale pie. I'll do roast spuds as I enjoy doing those. Have been reliably informed we have sprouts in the house too. 😁😁

DaphneduM · 02/03/2025 10:32

Good morning everyone - just got the first load of washing on which I'll be able to dry on the line as it's such a beautiful, sunny day. Starting washing all our sofa throws. Then, once the frost has gone, I'll be outside carrying on planting up my new border - already got a camellia and viburnum in, so will fill in with various hardy plants I've got and let them take their chances!

Not sure what's for dinner, that is always cooked by my husband! Late afternoon will be gin and tonic time. So just a peaceful, chilled day hopefully.

Rainbow1235 · 02/03/2025 10:34

Good morning it’s a beautiful day here so catching up on the washing and checking in on my dad he’s 81 and we lost my lovely mam lady July to dementia and he’s struggling bless him . Then a chicken dinner and very excited for new series of the bay tonite . Have a lovely day all

Rainbow1235 · 02/03/2025 10:36

Last not lady

Icantremembermyusername · 02/03/2025 10:37

Morning, all! I’ve been up lesson planning since 7. I couldn’t sleep and at least it’s something quiet which doesn’t disturb the rest of the house.
Time for a shower and a tidy up and to see if I can tempt DD out for a muddy dog walk if I suggest Costa Coffee at the end of it.

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 02/03/2025 10:38

I'm not long out of the shower, and I'm sitting on the edge of the bed contemplating an exciting trip to Tesco for the monthly "big shop". No.2 cat is headbutting my bare legs and meowing beseechingly because she's starving, so feeding her is next on the agenda. After Tesco's, who knows? There are a dozen unappealing minor jobs to do around the house, but I suspect I'll end up reading/dozing on the sofa.

Crunchymum · 02/03/2025 11:00

Another day of enforced rest for me with my poorly knee.

DP just prepping packed lunches and then he is taking the kids to the Thames. They'll start at Tower of London / Tower Bridge and then head to Tate Modern via South Bank. Such a beautiful, sunny spring day here and I'm sad to have to miss it.

I am going to rest but I will get dinner ready for later (full beef roast with all the trimmings and bakewell tart for dessert - tart is from M&S though!). I should be able to manage to peel a few spuds and sort out some veggies. Also going to make my own Yorkshire puddings.

It will be showers / finishing homework and a few episodes of Young Sheldon later.

Zippedydodah · 02/03/2025 12:16

Good (late) morning, it’s a gloriously sunny day here after a hard frost.
i was awake at 4, gave up trying to get back to sleep so by 6.30 I was sorting out stuff for a charity collection on Wednesday.
Then I cleaned through, DH vacuumed, before hanging out three loads of washing and doing a couple of hours of tidying in the back garden.
Dinner’s in the oven (Italian chicken, mixed roasted vegetables) and I’m looking forward to chilling out this afternoon, hopefully in the sunshine 🌞

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 02/03/2025 15:23

Bit late here, good afternoon! We went for a family swim this morning, picked up the shopping and some Greggs for lunch. I’ve just been at my book club and I hadn’t QUITE finished the book yet this morning so I was frantically reading every spare second I had 😂

Heading home shortly - bean chilli for tea and gaming with DH once the kids are in bed

frozendaisy · 02/03/2025 15:32

Good afternoon
We were already out the door for local green volunteering early thus morning. After a lovely sunny morning doing our part for nature and the community, got youngster to second job and just finishing off school shirts before me and Iggy Pop sort out a roast pork dinner, some of the family watch a very important football match and I attempt to organise the eldest's response to "unseen poetry"

Life's what you make it! (I believe 😀)

Thislittlekitten · 02/03/2025 16:32

Hello all

Missed this morning with an early sports match with DS. My feet are still cold!!

Really been lazy since home. Sorted about and had a glorious nap.

Tea is steak pie tonight. Organise uniforms and work clothes and watch call the midwife and towards zero.
