I'm not Gona list his interests because I'm needing totally new ideas!
Budget £100 but ideally less.

My DH has just turned 71. He is fit and active but doesn't really have hobbies as such. Birthday presents he wanted this year were hanging feeders for the birds. Bird food. Wildlife camera (automatic with infrared and Wi-Fi connection), an electric hot water bottle, some nice slippers, some of his favourite L'Occitane shower gel.

He likes to buy his own clothes and doesn't want any more 'stuff' cluttering up the place. I find now that we are older it is difficult to find things to ask people to give us, and it may be the same for your dad. Books? A magazine subscription? The one thing I asked for for Christmas that I really did want and nobody gave me was a retractable fountain pen - they can be got for about £2 on eBay (or a lot more). If there is anything he has mentioned then it probably is something he would like to have, even if you don't think it is suitable as a present.

we got a mid week couple of hours hire of a classic wedding type car and went for a chauffeur driven drive to local scenic areas getting some pics on the way - we all loved it and had a fabulously time. then home for a cuppa, a blether and his favourite dinner.

National Trust membership, or RSPB or local nature reserves.

A nice Stilton from local farm shop and an organic wine.

A birdbath.

What’s a blether? Is it like ‘tiffin’?

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 02/03/2025 10:48

We just got DF tickets to a play for his birthday.

Does he write letters still? I bought someone some cards, that were blank inside, but all prints on the outside from a local artist. Hand crafted with envelopes also and excellent quality. Ideal for sending the odd letter or card and makes an impact. I bought a wooden box to put them inside.

@luckylavender Thank you.

I don't think OP is 'gona' come back so we have wasted our time.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 02/03/2025 19:16

Lol I've been busy all day @Talonz !

Suggestions are good so far. He likes reading, Golfing, wildlife (has cameras and plenty feeders) but as pp has alluded to " he has everything he needs".

He's been in a couple of plays recently but there's no new upcoming ones for him. I gave him a heated gilet for Xmas which he really likes.
