Permanent hair straightening - advice/recs?

I have very fine, very brittle, light blonde curls. They're unruly, they're dry, they're stressed and they have not handled 30 years of straightening well. I don't blame them! And I've got to the stage where I concede defeat... I absolutely destest them.

So, what are my options?! Brazilian straightening? Keratin?

Anyone done it? I must stress, my hair is curly; not wavy. If I'd been kinder to it and cleverer with it, I would have Shirley Temple curls. (And I must also stress that I have neither the patience nor will to nurture the curls. I have a fat face and high forehead... I need straight hair!)

All advice/tips hugely appreciated 💛

Definitely a Brazilian - will condition it as well. Once done it will last for ages - I have mine done every 9 months and costs £100

£100 and lasts 9 months @dcadmamagain ?! That sounds incredible! Is your hair very curly? Do you get curly roots??

To be honest my hair is bouncy rather than really curly. I'd suggest going to a salon that advertises keratin Brazilian and asking them.

It really was a game changer for me

My own hairdresser looked at me with such horror when I asked about it @dcadmamagain, and advised I wouldn't be able to get it done for less than £250 but yes, I should chat to a specialist!

I’ve got very thick curly hair and I followed the curly girl method for a long time but it never really worked, I found it more effort than straightening. It took forever to dry, I had to wash it every other day because day two just looked straggly and I’d never get a day three. I wore it up more than I liked.

I’ve had Brazilian blow outs, keratin treatments. They work but they don’t last forever and you have to use sulphate/silicone free products (which are a lot easier to find now) however do your research because there are a lot of toxic chemicals in some of them. I’d need mine doing every 6 months and my hair was never poker straight and it still needed some level of heat to achieve the sleek look.

Whats worked wonders for me is a Japanese straightening. The cost was comparable to keratin/Brazilian blow outs but it’s essentially a perm. It takes me about five minutes to do my hair, I blast it with a hair dryer and roughly run my fingers through it or a brush. I had it done early April and I think I’ll get away with one treatment a year so I’m saving on the Brazilian/keratin blow outs. I have mine done in a salon in Manchester and the treatment is called Shiseido.

You can see how curly my hair was and how smooth it is now. I literally just blasted it with the hair dryer and it’s so healthy now!

Oh and I paid £200 for the Shiseido Japanese Straightening
