Hi everyone I just seen a brown streak on my toe nail looking back on pictures look like I've had it there for a while but have realised until now still will bring it up with my doctor
I am from Caribbean background and I know they say we can get pigmentation on our nails but still worried I do get my toes done a few times with the LED light thing for gel nails
I have attached a pic it's literally right at the side my nail doesn't hurt or anything

Brown streak on nail should I be worried ?

You might want to Google the word Melanonychia for information.
Have a look at the appearance, the risk factors, the signs and symptoms and the treatments.
It could be normal or it might not be, but you're right to ask your gp about it, especially if it bothers you.
Hope this helps you a bit.

It’s really difficult to see because of the lighting, but it’s worth getting checked by the GP. Some cancers can appear like this in the nail. Alternatively, it could be fungal nail, which has a similar appearance (does it smell?).

@mindutopia it doesn't smell doesn't hurt think
I've seen it there for a while maybe since 2023-2021 seen a picture of my feet and seen it but not quite sure but bec I always get my nails done I don't really see it much but since the other day haven't got my nails done recently so now I've been seeing it more often and it's got to my attention

Did you get sorted @mellissaahsj? I have one similar in the middle of my nail, very faint. I had it checked about 2 years ago by my GP and he said he wasn’t concerned and it was a sign of low B12 and vitamin D deficiency (I’m on injections for B12). My nails are also very soft and have ridges
