Any dieticians - need to put on weight

Advice for friend . In her late 60s.
She's convinced that if she eats anything fatty , cheese etc, it will just turn to fat in her body and will be unhealthy .
She dislikes the milky fortified drinks that her GP had prescribed .
I think she needs a referral to a dietician but in the meantime what can I say to her , especially with regard to her argument that fat in food= blubber on the body .
She's genuinely very thin and gaunt after several illnesses.

Has she actually been referred to a dietitian? I found mine absolutely useless

is it not more eating disorder support she needs?

This is a good website with lots of information, not just the section I have ppsted. Can she have more 'healthy' fats like avocado? Olive oil?
Try to get her to think about eating more protein rich food rather than high fat foods, so things like eggs, nut butter, pulses/beans, high protein yoghurt.

Tell her whole (blue top) milk is very nearly a low fat product. It contains about 3.5% fat. A low fat food has less than 3% fat. Whole milk is a good way of getting calories, protein and vitamins in.

Thank you @ghostbusters that looks helpful, good idea about healthy fats..

@DorothyStorm I doubt believe it's an eating disorder , she is rather rigid around food but she's not restricting intake and does want to gain weight.

I would be chugging down the milky fortified drinks prescribed, even if she doesn’t like them. Her body needs those nutrients.

Yes , I'd do that as well . Friend is not so amenable , time for a frank chat I think .
