Advice from anyone with a child with SN starting an apprenticeship

DC1 does not find school easy, he finds it hard to write, maths etc and has a diagnosis of ASD, dyspraxia, processing issues etc.
He's looking for apprenticeships and I'm looking for some reassurances! He's done a couple of days of work experience and has been shocked at the length of the day and exhausted.

I'm really hoping I can return to work, and want to know if in your experience your DC needed you more or basically how the transition was. What do we need to ask/look out for/haven't thought about?

I had the same hopes. But I wanted to go full time rather than do unsociable hours so I'm around during the day.

IME my youngest needs me more. The navigating childhood bit seems like a breeze compared to him being technically an adult, wanting the experiences teens want and can't quite get there.

In other ways it's easier but I'm slowly letting go of my hopes of working full time until husband retires and we can swap.

After a year and a half of nothing but rejections, I've two interviews next week. One quite academic, high level (which I'm lacking in experience for) and 80-100%. One where they called me to check I'd meant to apply as it's a job that on paper I'm over-qualified for and they wanted to make sure I was aware the salary would be correspondingly low, which is 50-60%. I've been out of work for 15 years and finally think we're at the stage where they would cope without me around as much.

I need to be able to convince both interviewers that I can do it, and that means convincing myself too!

How much do you work and how do you spread your hours?
