Found wet towels outside

I found wet towels outside in my yard. Probably there for nearly a week.

Any idea what is the best way to wash them?

Would a 40 degree wash do or should I put it on a hotter wash and longer cycle?

Or should I trash them?

Shake them a bit to get rid of any slugs then in washing machine at 40.

pizzaHeart · 27/02/2025 21:16

90 degrees long circle.

I don't have bio powder. I do have some vanish.

Bio doesn't make any difference above 40C, anyhow, as the heat dentures the enzymes.

Just wash at 60 with a pre-wash and see how they come out.

90! 😮 All those get washed at 40 in my house.

Nothing over 30 here. I'd be washing all day at 40 or 90

50 replies and no mention of spider Willies?

Our washing machine has a hygiene setting/soiled setting. I think it depends on your machine.

Minus 2 tonight, bad for spiders - good for towels.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 27/02/2025 21:44

No point in using bio detergent on a 90° wash. The heat kills the bio enzymes.

Featherpink · 27/02/2025 21:57

I put them on a quick cold wash for 20 mins followed by a 2 hour 75 degree wash.

I'm invested in these towels. How did they come out? Hope the hot wash did the job

Cursory · 28/02/2025 11:20

Personally, I think you should don a full hazmat suit and incinerate them with a flamethrower.

Then bleach the ashes.

I had to do two loads. There were just two many towels. I did one load last night. Another load on now. The first load came out looking and smelling clean. I am paranoid about mold and mold spores embedded in towels and stuff.

60 degrees with detergent and stain remover should do it
If they're stained and it bothers you, use for floor cloths( or dog towels as I do!)

Beamur · 28/02/2025 13:03

I'd happily wash and reuse them 😄

Normallynumb · 28/02/2025 13:04

Glad they came out clean

seven201 · 28/02/2025 13:13

Yay for the towels! I reckon they're fine now
