How often do you see your closest friend(s) ?

I have a close friend who I see once a week, on a week night. We have a set night that we have dinner/go for drinks and have a good catch up. This is not a Friday night.
This friend also likes to arrange things in the day at the weekend, but I am shattered by the weekend and the thought of walking around crowded shops/theatres or other like-crowded places gives me the shivers. Yes there are other options like going for coffee, lunch etc. but with so much to get done at the weekend and the need to make time for DC/family/DH plus a house to manage/run/sort there is often very little time for anything else.

Most of my close friends don’t live near me (the nearest is a 45+ min drive away but several live in other countries) so we see each other as and when we can but don’t have any fixed plans. We keep in touch via WhatsApp. People have busy lives and we all work.

It depends on what's going on in our lives. I try and catch up at least once a month

UtterlyOtterly · 26/02/2025 13:44

Friend One once a week or so.

Friend Two about once a month for a catch up but our lives coincide sometimes so we see each other in passing.

Friend Three about once every 4 to 6 weeks.

Friend Four very rarely in person due to distance (there is an ocean in the way) but we WhatsApp a lot. When we do meet it is as though we have never been apart since we met in primary school.

I see my best friend once a month on average and we go out for dinner and drinks on an evening. The others are more like every two or three months, sometimes just dinner out or sometimes a Saturday daytime. Once a year or so I have a girls' weekend away with school mum friends. I feel like if you're seeing her once a week that is already quite a lot!

@GameOfJones she would like to see me once a week plus every Friday or Saturday night and then one weekend day a month plus random Sundays when she wants to meet up too. It's just all too much but she would be devastated if I told her that.

At least 3 times a week. We are very involved in each other’s lives though and I might do a school pick up for her and take her kid on an adventure once a week, plus she’s got a baby so desperate to get out of the house most days.

It is a mixture of something just for us two (dinner out, theatre etc) and seeing her with the kids. We might also do errands together like the weekly shop.

I’m really surprised by this. I only have one close friend who lives near me and I only see her every few months.

I have 4 close friends, 2 live hundreds of miles away, have known them for years. We FaceTime or msg every week. The other 2 are local, both work FT and both had accidental surprise babies when their other children were much older. I see one about every 2nd or 3rd week and the other it’s more intermittent her youngest child has now taken up a sport that requires quite a bit of travel and time commitment. We msg frequently.

See my friends who I have known since I was 5 every 2 months.
We are meeting this Friday

PensionMention · 26/02/2025 15:55

I’m assuming this friend is either single or hates her partner.

andintheblinkofaneyeitwasallover · 26/02/2025 18:50

@pensionmention she has a partner but doesn't really care much for him
