Yes I think it could have. But it's also possible that it isn't lost, just very much in the grip of hormones.... Having said that I don't know how long a female in a tom-less landscape goes on looking or how far she might roam...

Thank you for your reply

I can understand you wanting to help it, I'd be the same, I love animals and have my own cats.

Because you are a nice decent person. In the area it is happening nobody cared apart from the lady who has put it on Facebook for us. We got told don't like cats and don't care . It puts you off people. Anyway I only have a small update tonight. The cat has a plastic shelter and a bed/fabric carrier and has been fed twice today. Cats protection also said continue to feed is fine. As we need the cat to make friends with us. My partner has just gone back now to give another meal and will feed again in the morning. We think If we can get it to start using the bed we can then zip it up and get the cat to the vets. But it looks as though it may be a slow process at the moment. We won't give up and if we can't finds its parents we will make sure it's rehomed. Sorry for parents just realised what I said. That's what we say to ours. Will update after the weekend . We will be spending most of the day on Saturday to see if we can coax it a bit more. Thank you all very much for being so interested and caring. You are lovely people and we appreciate it very much. Please don't worry too much. We will sort it out somehow . Thank you .

Thank you for your reply

Sorry that was a bit short. I was talking to my partner about it and was distracted. That's very interesting and I hadn't thought of that. Thank you very much.

I'm glad you've been able to fix it up with a shelter and food. The weather isn't so cold now, so it'll be okay for the time being. It's certainly lucky to have you caring for it.

Thank you that's a lovely thing to say.

Thank you to everybody for all your help. We carried on feeding the cat but unfortunately it just stopped turning up. We can only hope that it was lost and has managed to find it's way home again. Somebody on here had mentioned yowling and was it a female on heat. We think that might be the case and it had ventured away from its area and eventually found it's way home. There's no definitive answer. We still have the shelter set up just incase it returns. The rescues we talked to seemed to agree. There's not much more we can do now. Sorry for being so long to update I wanted to be sure the cat wasn't coming back and didn't want to lie to you all. The cat did seem to be in good condition when I looked so hopefully that's all it was. Thanks again everybody you were very kind. It's so hard to know what to do about animals sometimes. If you leave it you are possibly letting it starve. If you don't leave it you are tempting it to stay away from home.
