Feeling Short Changed with Car, but my fault probably.

Previous cars have been hatch back or estate cars. Kia Cee'd or Vauxhall Astra, in all cases the back seat folds down to give a flat level load bed.
Recently bought a 6 yr old VW Karoq. The snag is the rear seat base is fixed so the seat back will not go flat and it takes up a lot of space.
The VW excuse is that it is because of improved engineering, safety feature to restrain the bolts for a child seat.
Now discovered that they solved that engineering problem in the more expensive model. Thanks!!
Not happy!
Anyone else found a similar problem with any other models?

Karoq is Skoda. You can remove the back seats completely in the one I had. It was the car I enjoyed most after my mid life crisis cars.

Yes, my Ford Fiesta 2016 doesn't go flat either. The previous two Fiestas and one Focus all had flat boots so had assumed this one would as well, especially considering it has split back seats. This really ticked me off as the boot is now essentially useless except for a couple of bags of shopping. No idea why the seats are split as anything has to bend 45 degrees halfway through.

Thanks, @Bluevelvetsofa I will investigate how difficult it is to remove the back seats. I suppose I can di it by myself, they are so ungainly, but probably not too heavy.
