Potty training 2.5 year old won't poo on potty...any advice?

2.5 year old been potty training for approx 9 weeks. Potty trained with wees in a week with little or few accidents currently. However, she won't poo on the potty/toilet and always does it in her knickers or if we put a pull-up on.

Really frustrating and have tried several things to encourage her I.e rewards, stickers, talking about it. I've heard this is quite common but with my 1st, I potty trained him at 3, so slightly later and he was fine pooing in potty or toilet.

Any suggestions or advice welcome and/or reassurance lol 🙂

My eldest DS was the same. He hated the potty and would have accidents. We started off letting him do it in a pull up whilst sat on the potty. When he was comfortable with this we cut holes in the pull ups so the poo fell through and he saw it in the potty. Once he had seen it in the potty he was fine and this helped him move onto just going straight in the potty. It was long and drawn out but it was during covid and I was on mat leave so I had loads of time!

Hi,

She's had 2 poos on the potty on separate occasions after doing a wee, and she was fine, it didn't bother her but ever since starting potty training she continues to wee on potty or toilet and poo in knickers. So frustrating but seems to be common! Just feels like it'll never happen.
Thanks for your suggestion.

I bribed my eldest (who kept holding on to poos until the bedtime pull-up went on) with a new toy and lots of talk about there being a poo party in the drain that we'd send his to. Probably not a great example of parenting, but it worked, and there were no further problems.

Thanks...I'll try anything! Lol.
