The Inn at Whitewell. And their hot scones are to die for 🤤

Cavendish Baslow

Not Rudding Park.

Grantley Hall.

Pootles34 · 25/02/2025 14:31

Why not Rudding Park, out of interest? We have relatives that swear by Grantley Hall, but it is eye wateringly expensive!

Maynard Arms at Grindleford? I've not stayed there but I've eaten there a couple of times

Cynic17 · 25/02/2025 14:35

Choose somewhere on the Chatsworth estate - the Cavendish Arms is the main one. But even their pubs are lovely - The Beeley Inn and The Pilsley Inn.

Breadcat24 · 25/02/2025 16:26

Sorry while Pilsey inn has nice rooms but the food is awful
What about Fischers in Baslow?
Or if you want pool etc
Thoresby hall Nottinghamshire
Swinton Park near Ripon

It’s just not worth the money in my opinion. 5 years ago, I can see why people loved it but it’s just a bit run down now, the spa is awful (crowded, dirty, they don’t clear up glasses etc) and the service doesn’t match the price you are paying.

I agree Grantley Hall is eye watering in price BUT they really do go above and beyond in service. It’s definitely not an every day hotel, but for a special occasion worth the splurge.

We went to this hotel for a wedding several years ago. The views alone were stunning.

I'm just north of Sheffield and Gisborough Hall Hotel is just over 1.5 hours from here.

We stayed there in November, and really enjoyed it. The food is wonderful.

Whats wrong with the food at the Devonshire Arms at Pilsley? We have always had excellent food and service there. If you want fine dining then the Gallery Restaurant at the Cavendish Hotel is excellent.
Fischer in Baslow has excellent food but the service is pretentious and the rooms not great.

Breadcat24 · 27/02/2025 22:27

We had very bad food at the pub in Pilsey- both for dinner and breakfast,
Poor menu and executed badly
It ended up being a choice of pie and chips or fish and chips and the chips were not great
Breakfast was bad grease
Perhaps you were lucky
