Pain following stressful events

Does anyone have experience of this please and how did you calm your nervous system down? I’ve been prescribed nortriptyline. Is there anything else I might find helpful?

I read the way out by Alan Gordon and found it just as helpful as the amitriptyline I was taking.

I always suggest breathwork techniques for anxiety as a very useful adjunct to medication. There's one book in particular that makes this very accessible: Let It Go by Rebecca Dennis.
If you feel like going deeper there's a whole yogic philosophy based on breathing techniques known as pranayama.
