What do I actually do with this (houseplant related!)

He needs a new pole right? Am I meant to peel him off of his current one, somehow without damaging him, and then hope he clings nicely into the new one? Do I tie him on somehow (I used a wire bag tie in the past at the top). I have repotted him before but never changed the pole as can’t see how you can do that without damaging stalk or roots? Can’t find much online (ok YouTube) on how to actually change a moss pole?

Is the current moss pole hollow? Eg is it a plastic tube with moss wrapped around the outside. If that's the case, you can buy moss pole extenders. These are a new moss pole with a thinner pointy bit on one end which you poke inside of the current pole.
