in need of advice

my wife (47) myself (56) both working full time, have lived in the same privately rented house for 20 years. we have just been informed that our landlord has passed away and the house may be put up for sale.
we have no savings so to speak and earn 80k at the moment but we need advice on our options in regard to renting housing association or similar schemes. basically looking at our long term security, i will be retiring at 65/67 as the main bread winner this will decimate our income and leave us with limited options. we live in Medway Kent . could anyone advise on long term options?

I don’t see how you would currently qualify for HA, as they are typically for people in need, on low income or who need support. 80k doesn’t seem particularly low, income wise, googling the rents in your area. Are you not saving anything at all? You’ve a good decade left to save something so you don’t end up up shit creek so to speak.
You might need to look into something like over 60’s / retirement places nearer the time maybe?

helpful Link appreciated.
of course we have some savings but not 20-30k for a shared ownership deposit or 80k+ deposit for a mortgage (which i only have 10 years of working life remaining).
just putting it out there that we cant be the only people in the same predicament.
