Is there a medication that can stop you dreaming ?

I’m experiencing horrific nightmares that make me anxious about sleep . Is there anything that I can take that anyone knows of that stops all dreaming?

Im having therapy for PTSD and see my GP regularly but although they tell me therapy will help I actually want to stop having nightmares straightaway. Do herbal things such as Kalms work or do they just promote sleep or do they make you deeply asleep and stop dreaming ?

Are you taking any medication? Calms do soothe you a little but they make your mouth dry

Try external music to calm your mind? There are loads of brown noise and white noise apps

Amytriptiline. It helps with sleep/mood/pain and I found I remembered dreams less.

Just what I was going to say. I don't recall dreaming at all on these, dead to the world

That sounds awful. I am sorry you're going through that. I'm sure therapy will help in the long run. Have you talked about it with your therapist as they may be able to help with some strategies to help you.

Have you tried any sleep meditations or apps - like calm or headspace? I think bbc sounds have some music/podcasts too. These might help you rejax before bed or if you wake calm you down again and go back to sleep.

Also all the usual sleep hygiene tips - relaxing routine before bed, hot shower, nice body lotion, magnesium glycinate helps with stress related sleep.

Not sure if you like essential oils but maybe talk to someone in a good health shop or Neals Yard.

I hope things unitive for you soon. Sounds like you're having a really tough time.
