Where to eat near Hyde Park?

I'm off to London with my mum soon. I don't know London well at all. We're doing one of those coach trips we they drop you off then pick you up and take you back to the hotel. We're being dropped off the Hyde Park end of Oxford Street. I want to plan somewhere for lunch - nothing too fancy but not a chain. Or at least not the kind of chain you see everywhere.

Any recommendations? I was thinking either an afternoon tea or a vegetarian restaurant would be something my mum would like. I want something walking distance to where we're being dropped as my mum is getting quite flappy in her old age and I can't handle navigating her around the tube when I don't really know what I'm doing or where I'm going.

Thanks

Are you OK with using buses with your mum? Look if there are buses that will get you to South Kensington or to near Leicester Square.

I'd be happier with a bus than the tube - at least I'm used to using them. Ideally though I'd like to find something walking distance.

You don’t need to travel further.

How about The Ivy Asia Mayfair? They do a set lunch menu for £28.

OR

Brasserie of light at Selfridges? 5 mins walk from Marble Arch (where I assume you’ll be dropped off). They can probably do an afternoon tea.

Thank you! I'll have a look at both of those.
