Theatre Clubs

Has anyone got any experience of these? They are the sort of club where you get collected in a coach and driven to the theatre for a matinee and then brought back on the coach.

I live not all that far from London, but I hate the trains in and out of London tbh. I use them enough for work and the journey takes the joy out of going to see a show for me if I'm going on my own. Different if meeting friends.

There are a few shows I'm keen to see and there is a theatre club offering these trips. Just wondered if anyone else has done them. I think from the itinerary (matinées in the week mainly) that they're aimed at retired people. I'm 41 and obviously still working! But there are a couple of trips I could make this year, so wondering if it might be a good idea. I don't have anyone to go with (they're also still working a lot and if they're spending a lot of money on theatre tickets, I imagine they want to see what they want to see iyswim)

I've never heard of it, but it sounds like a great idea - especially being dropped and presumably collected right by the theatres.

This sounds brilliant, I want to find one

Why not? I would prefer a coach too. I know what you mean about trains. Looked it up and sadly not near one. Probably lots of people will be alone. You can chat about the show on the way home. Siunds good

When I worked in Covent Garden, I remember seeing a hired coach marked ‘Preston’ picking up people after a performance of Dirty Dancing: the Musical. That was going to be an incredibly long day, but the mood was clearly ‘two thirds of the way through a raucous hen weekend’.

Ah thank you! I'm going to look into costs and might join.

Hmm my town is pretty sedate, so can't imagine it getting like that... but it is possible and would not be the vibe I want
